About
Westminster is at the heart of London. The council’s ambition is for Westminster to be a City for All – a place where people are born into a supportive and safe environment, grow and learn throughout their lives, build fantastic careers in world-leading industries, have access to affordable homes, and retire into the community with dignity and pride. This ambition has been fundamental to our strategic thinking at WAES. The Service is well-known for inclusive, high-quality adult education programs in art, vocational, work-based syllabus, basic abilities, community and family learning. Westminster is one of the most diverse and dynamic communities in Britain. Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) reflects that diversity as one of the largest local authority adult education providers in the UK. The service is part of Westminster City Council and is funded by the Skills Funding Agency. Our board of governors involves elected members of the city council and members from the community and local organizations. We have power roots in the community, running courses where they are needed through partnerships with the local authority and other community and education bodies. To ensure the quality of our courses and support for students we are inspected by Ofsted. On courses leading to national qualifications, we must also meet the high standards required by examination bodies. We aim to make it as easy for our learners as possible to study here. Westminster Adult Education Service offers full-time and part-time study in the daytime, evenings, and at weekends and, where possible, blended learning and remote learning options. Subjects fields include Art & Design, Health, and Social care, and ESOL
