On occasion, we are asked by prospective students about our background and how and where we started. To put things easily,  students want to know more about us before they decide whether to select us as their distance learning supplier. And who can blame them! The initial idea of setting up UK Open College was the brainchild of our director Bill Nicholls. After many years of working within an education and in particular the distance learning area. Bill obtained a thorough understanding of exactly what students were looking for when embarking on their home study journey. After years of speaking and dealing directly with distance learning students, it was soon founded exactly what it was that students required. The essential three factors were to offer the opportunity to study anywhere, anytime, offer true flexibility, and ensure any offering was affordable to the majority of students. After all, there is no point in supplying all of this if it was then unaffordable. These three factors soon became the morals and ethics of the whole company.

With all this knowledge and information, armed with his findings, Bill then set up the UK Open College. Since its incarnation in 2006, the college has gone from strength to strength. With a slow but sure approach, we have built up a fantastic reputation for value and service without compromising on the quality we offer. We have now firmly founded ourselves as one of the most respected home study suppliers in the UK and abroad. Based in Birmingham in the West Midlands sees us are centrally located within the UK to serve students on a national scale. The way home study and distance learning works and with the development of new technologies, students are able to access their courses from anywhere at any time. Throughout the last few years, our portfolio of courses has steadily grown and developed. Some of the most recognized qualifications from the most respected awarding bodies are available in a variety of subjects.
