About
Ruskin is a matchless place. Our story began two centuries ago in 1899 and today we have a well-earned reputation as a ground-breaking college, combining life-transforming education with an unerring commitment to social justice and a better world.
Who are we?
Ruskin College offers adult learning to people of all ages and backgrounds. With historic links to the University of Oxford, we offer university-standard education and facilities, without the need for qualifications. For many of our adult learners, financial, personal, or social obstacles have made it impossible for them to take educational chances earlier in their lives. Ruskin exists to put that right. We have courses to suit everyone, whatever the situation: whether it’s Further Education, Higher Education, getting into employment, or easily a desire to improve personal interests. For us, education is about social alter too. By transforming the lives of adults who deserve a second chance in education, we know that they will make their communities better places too. We are no ordinary college. Everything we do has a social goal and we take pride in our continued activism in search of a fairer society, which all started when we were founded 120 years ago.
