Founded in 1884, Bangor University has a long tradition of academic excellence that continues to this day. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 77% of the research undertaken by Bangor University was rated in the top two tiers of research quality, ahead of the average for all UK universities. In the 2017 TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework), Bangor University was awarded the Gold standard for consistently delivering outstanding teaching, learning, and outcomes for its students. Bangor was the only university in Wales to succeed this standard.

Some of our modules and programs are accredited or recognized by relevant professional bodies. Professional accreditation or recognition is a ‘seal of approval’ which demonstrates that the module/program is considered by the professional body to have real career value. Graduates of these modules/programs may be eligible for exemptions from special modules of certain professional qualifications; be able to obtain credits that can be put towards certain professional qualifications; or be able to graduate with a dual award – a qualification from the professional body alongside their Bangor University degree.
